Ski Sapphire Snow and Activity Update- Dec 26 - Dec 31, 2021

Ski Sapphire Valley Remains Temporarily Closed

Record high temperatures are one thing in August, but December 25th – no thank you. Mother Nature served up a 71-degree record high in nearby Asheville Christmas Day!

Unseasonably warm weather will continue until New Year's Day when the forecast call for winter weather to reappear. If the forecast holds, snow making operations could resume at Ski Sapphire Valley on the evening of January 2nd. 

We have heard nothing official from Ski Sapphire Valley Management, however,  the Ski Ops team may be able to open Friday at Noon, January 7th.

SKI SAPPHIRE VALLEY TEMPORARIY CLOSED

The Ski Area staff announced recently the ski area will not open until early 2022, weather permitting.

Ski Sapphire TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO WARM WEATHER

SKI SAPPHIRE VALLEY TEMPORARIY CLOSED

The Ski Area staff just can not say when the Ski Area will open. The weather is just too warm! Snow making will resume as soon as colder weather returns. 

Weather Update: There is a cold artic blast coming in Sunday with lows in the 20's giving the Ski Sapphire staff serveral days to blow snow!!

SKI SAPPHIRE VALLEY RESORT

News: Due to warmer, wet December weather, the main ski hill will probably not open on Saturday Dec 18th. Ski Sapphire Valley will try to open Frozen Falls Tube Park and the training slope on Saturday.

The word from the Resort Management is they 'HOPE' to open this weekend.

The weather is milder than forecasted a few weeks ago and the staff at Ski Sapphire have not made any snow recently. The forecast between now and December 18 shows several nights of snow making weather possible. We will update this report when Ski Sapphire can make more snow.
